On Friday, students came home with the book, The Enormous Egg. This is a school wide book, where every family gets a copy and can read it together at home. In February the school will be having a Family Reading Night celebration where you can come and join in on the festivities centered around reading the book. Also, the book fair will be during that week.
Report cards came home on Friday. I am going to send data notebooks home tomorrow. We looked through student data notebooks a little during parent teacher conferences. Student goals and some assessments are in the notebook. It may be helpful to you to glance through this and see what areas your child may need a little extra help in. Please return these no later than Friday. Thank you!
We began guided reading groups today! Each group will meet twice a week for reading instruction. Some students will go to Mrs. Dickinson and Ms. Greer for reading groups. I am very excited to begin groups. It is fun to see the growth in reading. Working on sight word lists at home will help your child in their guided reading group. The goal for the end of the year is for students to master all 10 lists!
You may have noticed, students have been completing the front page only of there math papers. We are working on addition and learning in ways other than paper and pencil. We are acting problems out, using manipulatives and telling addition stories. You are welcome to do the problems at home, but no need to send papers back to school. Thank you!
