Sickness
We have a case of the flu and several students with fever out of the classroom this week. Below is the policy regarding fever:
Valentine Day Party
Our Valentine Day Party is on February 14th at 1:15-2:00. I sent a note home about it today. Our homeroom moms asked me to ask for a few donations needed for the party. If you are able to help, click HERE to sign up for an item. The class will be decorating a sugar cookie for their snack, so most of the items needed are for that. If you want to send in something that is not on the list that would be fun to use as cookie decorations, feel free to do so! As always, THANK YOU for your help! You can send these in any time before the day of the party.
What we are learning....
Math- We will have our math test this Friday over subtraction.
Reading- We read Tacky the Penguin this week and have been comparing characters in the story, asking questions about the text and will make a Tacky the Penguin craft on Friday.
Writing- This is the last week for our How-To writing unit. The class is working on how to start their day at school and the jobs they do before the day begins. We have been talking about strategies to write longer words (say the word, clap the parts of the word and then write the word)
Science- Mrs. Hillenburg planned another fun science experiment that the class participated in this morning. They LOVE the experiments. Today they each had a cup of water, vinegar and corn kernels. They added baking soda and watched the corn kernels ride up on a bubble to the surface of the liquid, the bubble would pop and then it would happen all over again.
Sight Words- We will have a spelling test over the words "it, like" on Friday.
