Look at all of these sweet faces! I am so lucky to have a job that I love as much as I do. We are off to a great start, and have been very busy.
We kicked of Writer's Workshop this week. The class is learning about how they are writer's, and they have been telling their stories through pictures. Some are even trying to label things in their picture with letters.
We are also discussing a letter a day. The class listens to a song that goes with their alphabet books, and they have been "letter detectives" finding upper and lowercase letters in the book. Thank you parents for helping get these books put together for the class! I have a few more to send home, and appreciate your help very much!
I am very close to finishing upper and lowercase alphabet assessments. I will be sending a note home soon with the letters your child knows, and which ones they do not recognize yet. If your child needs some extra help with letter recognition, Starfall is a great website and app! There are a lot of other websites on Mrs. McGuire's (our computer teacher) site that you may want to check out too. You can find her site on the Willard East webpage, or you can click HERE.
We began our new math curriculum this week. This curriculum is new to to the distict. You will notice bright colored math papers coming home most days. We are doing some of the math together, and some of it is independent. There are a lot of math problems on these sheets, and we will not do all of it at school. There is not time, and it is too much at one time. If you want to do the rest of the problems together at home, please feel free (or not!). I do not need them back. Our math curriculum also has a homework sheet for each lesson. I will send these home at times. This is NOT homework that needs to be returned, just extra practice at home if you wish to do it together
