Hello! Can you believe October is already here?? The start of the school year has flown by. I have been ready for cooler weather for awhile now. I LOVE this time of year!!
We started the third component of Daily 5 this week: Listen to Reading.
We finished introducing a letter a day and will begin sight words on Monday. We will learn 2-3 new sight words a week. Sight words are words that appear in print frequently. Learning these words each week will benefit your child greatly in reading and writing. The first sight words we will learn are: am, at
I will do an informal "test" on Fridays to see if your child can write the words we have been learning all week. I will send the test home so that you can see too. I am not assessing this for report cards, I just want to be able to do a quick check at the end of the week to see who I need to work with in small groups on words.
In math, we are continuing to count and write the numbers 6-10.
In writing, we started our personal narrative unit. The class has been working on writing books! They are fantastic writers and I love hearing their stories.
We finished our apple unit. It was a lot of fun! Thank you SO much for sending in apples. I appreciate all of your support supplying classroom needs, helping with class activities, putting books together for us, etc... I am so lucky to have the support I do, and I am truly thankful!
