We had a FANTASTIC first week of school! The class is doing really well with following directions, learning procedures and listening. They are also doing a nice job of walking down to the room and remembering the routines in the morning. My goal for them is to be responsible for taking care of their lunch choice, turning in their daily folder and getting their day started independently. They are doing a great job of this so far! If you are still walking your child down, dropping them off at the classroom door will help with this!

Whew! It was a busy week for all! Next week we will be learning/reviewing alphabet letters, begin our math curriculum (counting, recognizing and writing numbers), begin fine motor activities to strengthen little hands for writing, cutting, etc..., begin Writer's Workshop, and begin learning about the Daily 5. The Daily 5 is a framework for structuring literacy time in the areas of reading and writing. The Daily 5 structure teaches students how to work independently. There are 5 components and the first one is Read to Self. Students will begin practicing Read to Self next week. I will send more about Daily 5 home next week.
Helper of the Day/Snack next week:
Monday: Connor
Tuesday: Darley
Wednesday: Eden
Thursday: Ella
Friday: Grayson
Please send in enough snack for 21 students. You are welcome to send in drinks if you like. We have a water fountain that the class uses after snack time too. I have napkins, but if the snack requires spoons, cups or other items, please send those in too. Snack has to be store-bought, but does not have to be individually wrapped. Ideas for snack: bananas, yogurt, pretzels, crackers, granola bars, apples, cheese and crackers.
Rest Towels
Rest towels will come home today, and every Friday to be washed. Please send back on Monday.
Class Schedule
I updated the class schedule. You can find this on the blog. We have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please send your child in tennis shoes those days.
Parent Volunteers
I am going to be sending home books that need to be folded and stapled to parents that said they would be interested in helping at home. Please send these back to school in your child's backpack. I REALLY appreciate the extra help. Thank you in advance!
Have a GREAT weekend!
