Hello! I love that we start the school year with a 2 day week! It gives kindergarteners a chance to get acquainted with school, but get a little rest before we go full force! I bet they were tired after 2 days! I know I was! I am looking forward to the first full week, and getting routines and rules established. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming week:
SNACK
I sent a snack calendar home for August at Meet the Teacher. There is a link on this blog to the calendar in case you misplace the paper calendar. There are 21 students in our class, and no allergies at this time. Please remember snack has to be store bought, and healthier snacks are preferred.
Snack Helpers This Week:
Monday- Shelby
Tuesday - Happy Birthday Mi-Sha & Sara!
Wednesday- Lilly
Thursday- Bella
Friday- Virgil
SCHEDULE
There is a link to our class schedule on this blog, in case you need to know what time we have lunch, etc.... The special classes are also linked to the schedule tab.
Monday- library
Tuesday- PE
Wednesday- Computers
Thursday-Art
Friday- Music
We will have "extra PE" every Monday morning as well (we will not have it tomorrow because Coach F is helping classes with the eclipse). Please send your child to school in tennis shoes on Monday and Tuesday for PE days. When the class begins to check out library books on Tuesday, they will need to return their library book on or before every Tuesday. We have a return bin in our classroom. We will also have Counseling with Mrs. Woodall every other Wednesday.
SOLAR ECLIPSE
Mrs. Menditto kindly offered to make our glasses to view the eclipse a little safer for the class by attaching them to paper plates so they can't see the sunlight. They attach to their heads with a rubber band.... look it up on you tube if you don't know what I'm talking about:) It's pretty cool!
EARLY OUT MONDAYS
Every Monday students are released at 3:05. Please remember that tomorrow is our first early out Monday!
REST TIME
I will begin to send rest towels home on Fridays to be washed. Please return the following Monday. I will wipe rest mats down at school.
DISCIPLINE
I will explain our discipline system to the class this week. We have a clip-up, clip down system in our classroom. There is information in the k handbook I sent home at Meet the Teacher about this. I will send more information about it home this week. Please become familiar with how this works in our room so that you can reinforce this at home. After this first full week, the class will begin the clip up, clip down system. After this week, I will give them a star chart to keep in their red take home folder and they will color the star according to what color they were on at the end of the day.
I hope this is helpful! As always, please contact me with questions or concerns. Have a wonderful week!!!
