I hope you had a nice break with your family. It's great to be back in a routine, but the class and I have been a little sleepy this week! It's hard to get back to a schedule. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at home with family, and feel refreshed and ready for the second half of our school year!
Here is a little info about next week...
Snack/Helper of the Day
Monday-Noah
Tuesday-Olivia
Wednesday -Paloma
Thursday-Quinten
Friday-Sadie
*PE is on Monday
*Library is on Wednesdays
Cold Weather
With the weather getting colder, please remember to send students with coats, hats, gloves, etc. We will try and have outside recess as much as possible. If the temperature or wind chill is below freezing we will not go outside, otherwise we will be outside.
Stewart Little and Family Reading Night
Every family should have received a copy of Stewart Little. This is a school wide book club. I hope you will read this at home together. There will be a celebration in February at Family Reading Night. There will be lots of crafts, games, and prizes. Mark your calendar for February 4th at 6:30.

They will be sent home at the beginning of next week. If you have concerns or questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Important Dates
January 18th: No School (Teacher Workday)
This week we started our Gingerbread Unit in reading. We will continue the Gingerbread theme through next week. We talked about problem/solution and characters in books, We will compare and contrast different Gingerbread themed books next week, and discuss what it means to "infer" while reading.
In Math, the class is adding numbers together in the card game "Compare" and adding/subtracting one from numbers. Next week, we will continue with addition, finding different ways to make the number 6.
In Writing, we began a new unit. The class started writing "How-To" stories this week. They will work on these the next few weeks. We will learn how-to make PB & J's next week and write about it together. Today we talked about using transition words in writing (first, next, then, after that and last).
I hope you have a great weekend!!
