Hello! I hope you had a wonderful break! I loved having the time to spend with my family! It is always nice to take a break and feel refreshed and ready to go after break is over! It's been fun listening to all of the stories the class had to tell when they came back to school. Two of the students in class went to Mexico over break! How lucky! I think they were all happy to be back and see their friends:)

Snow Make-Up Day
February 20th is our snow make-up day.
Reading Logs and Sight Word Lists
Keep turning these in! I decided that I will go over these once a week, on Thursdays. You can send them in any time, I will keep them and go over them one day a week to save time. Thank you for working on these at home!
100 Days Smarter!!
This is a big deal in kindergarten! We have been counting down the days and they are very excited to celebrate the 100th day of school! We have some fun activities planned and will celebrate January 24th. Each kindergarten class is planning something fun, and the classes will rotate to each class for a different activity. I am planning on making chex mix with each class, and they will make 10 groups of 10 different items to make a snack of 100 items.
I am attaching attaching a list of items needed. Please leave a comment at the bottom of this post (click on comment and list the item you will send in) if you are willing to help. You can check the comments to see what is still needed.
We will also be making PB&J's next week to finish up our "How-To" writing unit, so I will add items needed for that too. We will need the Chex mix items by Monday, January 23rd and PB &J items Tuesday, January 17th. Thank you in advance for helping!
We will have an optional dress up day on the 100th day of school. You can decorate an old t-shirt with 100 things, draw 100 things on it, etc... This is just for fun! Be as creative as you like! If your child would rather dress like they are 100 years old, they can do that too! It's going to be a fun day!
Items Needed
Guided Reading Groups
Now that we have finished assessing all of the kindergarten students, we have grouped them according to reading levels. I will begin meeting with groups twice a week, beginning next week. I am anxious to get started! The kids love reading groups and it is fun to see the growth that happens in kindergarten. Some students will go to different classrooms for reading groups. Ms. Greer, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Coffey and myself will all be meeting with groups twice a week. I talked to the class this week and they know which teacher they will meet with each week. Let me know if you have any questions about this!
