It was a short but busy week! We have been busy learning the first component of the Daily 5, Read to Self. The class is learning how to read a book independently, "read" pictures and retell a familiar story. They are doing a fantastic job! In Writer's Workshop, the class is telling a story with a picture and labeling parts of the picture with a letter. We are working on recognizing, writing and counting numbers 1-5 in math.
A look at next week....
- The class will be taking a Unit 1 assessment in math over numbers 1-5
- We will continue practicing Read to Self and we will talk about details in stories
- We will discuss topics in writing
- We will begin handwriting! I am excited to get this started. I went to a Handwriting Without Tears workshop this summer, and can't wait to get started!

Color Week(s)
We will be learning a new color word each day. Color words are so important for kindergarteners to recognize because they will see these words all year long! If your child has these colors in clothing, please help them to participate in wearing them each day. I will send a reminder text through Remind each evening as well.
These are the colors we will be wearing this week:
Monday: No School
Tuesday: Red
Wednesday: Blue
Thursday: Yellow
Friday: Green
FUNDRAISER PACKETS DUE!
Please do not forget to send your child’s fundraising packet and all money on Tuesday! I will make sure that they check their backpacks—I know they probably will not fit in their red folders.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
