FUNDRAISER INFORMATION
The last day for our fundraiser is October 3rd.
Inside of your child’s packet there is a coupon book. Every student MUST bring their coupon back in original condition unless you plan to purchase it. Our school will be charged for every missing coupon book. If you do not plan on participating you may send the entire packet back anytime. An order form that was missing from the packet is coming home today.
TIGER PRIDE
Our first Tiger Pride Assembly is on Friday, September 26th. It will be in the gym and will start at 2:30. Tiger Pride is scheduled on the last Friday of every month. During the assembly, students are recognized for things such as positive character traits, perfect attendance each month, academic achievements, etc... I will choose 2 students each month that have earned the "Terrific Tiger" award. This is similar to "Student of the Month". Students' names are called and they go up on stage to get their certificate. Students can earn this based on behavior or academics. I will notify parents the week of the assembly if your child is selected for this award. Parents are always welcome to attend our assemblies.
The assembly will be over around 3:00 and if you attend the assembly, you are more than welcome to take your child home. If you plan on taking them, they will not be counted tardy and you will need to come back to our classroom to get their backpack. Please let me know that you are taking them before you leave! Our class will finish up their special class time in the computer lab after the assembly.
Your child will also get their Tiger Pride T-shirt on Friday. We encourage them to wear this t-shirt on Fridays and to the Tiger Pride Assembly. The t-shirt is provided by the school.
APPLE WEEK
Friday is Johnny Appleseed's birthday and your can come in dressed like Johnny! (jeans, plaid shirt, overalls) Thank you so much for sending in apples today! If you didn't send one in today, and would like to, we could still use them. Today we talked about prediction, and then we predicted whether apples will sink or float. The class loved playing in the water! We will taste test apples tomorrow and graph which one is our favorite. We will make applesauce on Thursday.

Ask your child about...
Writing-Starting to learn how to teach someone to do something with our writing. An example would be how to ride a bike. Also making sure that what you are writing about stays on that topic. We are using the ideas we have been working on since the beginning of the year-writing about things we know how to do-and building on this with teaching someone how to do these things. We will still focus on stretching out the sounds we hear in words to label and stretching out small words in our writing.
Word Work-Still introducing stations and practicing making our spelling words, color words, names
Read to Self-Discuss making predictions-Read a few pages and predict what will happen next. Were our predictions correct? Why or why not?
Math-All about the number 7-Writing 7, making 7-Apple Investigations
Science-Labeling parts of an apple, apple taste test-What kind of apple is your favorite? Making applesauce! Predicting whether apples will sink or float
