Sight Words this week:
can, go
I am sending a letter home today with a list of sight words to practice at home. These are all words that will appear in easy beginner books that will help your child be a more confident reader. Making flash cards and practicing the words a couple of minutes each night would benefit your child in the areas of reading and writing. When your child can read the list of words, send it back to school and I will have them read the words to me, and I will send the next list home. Students should work at their own pace. There are "phrases" as well that will help your child in reading. I appreciate your support at home!
Library
We have library every Wednesday. The class went to library last week, but did not check out books due to the book fair. They will check out a book again this week.
PE
Just a reminder... we have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Conferences
Please sign up for a Parent Teacher conference. I would love to meet with you to discuss your child's progress and what we are learning at school. We can talk about the report card and how to read it at conferences too. HERE is a link to the open times. If you can't sign up on the form, just email me the time you would like!
Fall Party
Please send $2 to help with pizza for the fall party. Mrs. Brymer will be picking it up for the class on Friday. Our party will begin at 11:30.

We finished up Topic 3 today in math (numbers 6-10). I will be giving the Topic 3 assessment this week in math. We will begin Topic 4 next week, which is comparing numbers 6-10.
We are continuing with our narrative writing unit this week. The class thought of another story today that is important to them and they are writing a beginning, middle and end. This is mostly through pictures, labeling and strings of letters to write a sentence. They are doing a great job in writing and are excited to share their stories. It is always amazing to watch the progress this age group makes in writing throughout the year!
We have 5 iPads in our classroom. The class is beginning to use them this week during Word Work and Read to Self. We have one iPad that is set up exclusively for Osmo. Osmo is new to our classroom this year, and it is really cool. Click HERE to see what Osmo is all about! We have 5 more iPads that have been ordered for our classroom that should be here soon!
In Reading, the class is making predictions and making connections to characters in books. We are focusing on the book, Leonardo the Terrible Monster this week. This is a Mo Willems' book, and the class and I LOVE his books! They are hilarious:)
Have a great week!
