Valentine’s Day
Our Valentine’s Day Party will be on Friday, February 15th at 11:45-12:30. We will eat lunch at school as usual and the party will be at the end of the day. The class will have floats and look at their Valentine's.
On the morning of the party, we will be exchanging valentines. Please help your child make a Valentine’s Day box for his or her cards. This can be as simple as a shoe box, or more elaborate if you would like. Please DO NOT label cards with names. It is much easier and quicker at this age if they can pass out a card to each student without finding that child’s box/name, etc… They can simply write who it is from and pass one out to each friend. Please send the boxes and cards in no earlier than Monday, February 11th. You may want to put the cards in a Ziploc bag to send to school.
Substitute
My son is having back surgery in Kansas City on Tuesday (Feb 12th). I plan on taking Tues-Thursday off to be with him. I am planning on being at school for the class party on Friday. There may be more days I am gone, but I am not anticipating this. Olivia's mom, Mrs. Davault will be the class' substitute all 3 days. Mrs. Davault used to be a teacher at Willard East and I am thankful that she is able to step in while I am absent. I will be checking email and texts, so if you need to contact me, feel free to. If you have a transportation change or a sick child, please call the office. Thank you!
Sight Word Lists
I just wanted to give a reminder about our sight word lists. These lists are to help each child learn the sight words at their own pace. If you will please work with your child on the list that they are on and then send it in when they know all of the words and phrases, I would greatly appreciate it! Sight words are so important in kindergarten because it really helps them when reading the level of books that are required in kindergarten. If you need a new sight word list, please let me know and I will gladly send one home.
I have a handful of students close to finishing the first 5 lists. Once all 10 lists are completed, we will celebrate with ice cream!
