Report Cards
Report cards are in your students' backpacks today! If you remember back to parent/teacher conferences, our report cards look very different than they use to. They are going to look even more different this quarter because we have two quarters worth of standards assessed, I have tried to comment/attach things to make it more clear to you how your student is doing. If I were you, I would disregard the "donut" with the percent in the middle. Here is what you need to know...
Most likely, if I have concern I would have contacted you about other interventions like BASE. Please let me know if there are any questions and I will do my best to answer them!

- Reading- Highlighted in orange to the right will be your students reading level. The grade level expectation at this time is a DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) 2. A DRA A or 1 is below grade level, and a DRA 3 and 4 are above grade level at this time. The end of kindergarten expectation is a DRA 6. The progression of DRA is A, 1, 2, 3 ,4, 6. This is your students independent reading level.
- Things to be working on for all students: Any reading at home is great! Keep practicing those sight word lists. It is important for students to be able to read and write these words.
- Math- The percentage in the donut does not matter. What is most important is how they did on the 2nd quarter math assessment, which is attached as well. Again is how they did in green, yellow, and red. Things in yellow and red are areas I would like to see improve. Please remember the goal is for these standards is to be mastered by the end of the year.
- Writing- Attached to the report card is a print out of how your student did on our writing assessment. There are two standards that were assessed. One includes having a complete story in a sequence that makes sense. The other standard is a language convention standard. These are things such as capital letters, periods, phonetic spelling, etc. I highlighted both standards: mastered (green), what they are using sometimes/near mastery (yellow), and what they aren't doing independently and need to work on/remediation (red).
- Science/Social Studies- All students are participating in these activities!
