Tiger Pride
Our October Tiger Pride Assembly is Friday, October 25, at 2:30 p.m. Families are welcome to attend. There are chairs set up for parents in the cafeteria, and students will sit with the class.
I will give out two academic awards. If your child earns an Academic Award, they will go on stage. I will send a note home for this prior to the assembly.
Our assemblies usually last until 3:15. If you choose to come, you are welcome to take your child with you after the assembly. Taking them after the assembly does not count against attendance. If you are taking your child home from the assembly, students will walk back to the computer room with Mrs. McGuire (they are in computer class when the assembly begins) and you can let Mrs. McGuire know you are taking them home. The class takes their backpacks with them to computers on assembly days, so you will not need to walk down to our classroom for their things. Please email me or send a note to let me know you are taking your child with you so that I know where they are as well. Let me know if you have questions!
Red Ribbon Week/Dress Up Days
This week we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week here at Willard East! We will be learning more about what it means to be drug free. We will also have dress up days. It is not required to participate, but the students typically really enjoy this week!
Tuesday- Wear bright clothes
Wednesday- Wear camo
Thursday- Wear Red
Friday- Wear Willard Tiger Gear
Ipads/Headphones
We are beginning to use ipads as an option for word work and read to self. Students will need a pair of headphones at school to use the ipads. There are 4-5 students who do not have headphones yet. Please send these to school asap. Thank you!
Sight Words
Sight words are a great start to reading in kindergarten! Last week I sent home List A of sight words with your child. Please practice these at home. When your child has mastered that list, please send it back to school in their red folder. There is a place to sign at the bottom.
If they pass the list, I will then put a new list for them in their folder to practice. (Please give me a couple of days, there are days that I will not have time to get to the list)
If you lose a list, just let me know and I am happy to send a new one home.
Each student can and should move at their own pace! Our goal is that by the end of the year, they will master all 5 lists (lists A-E) for kindergarten.
Let me know any questions you may have on this!
